A change in the way knowledge and competences are taught using ITC and in particular the study of music through the computer: this is particularly interesting to inspire the youth with difficulties to learn, specifically those that are not particularly interested in the traditional curricula and are therefore possible school dropouts.
The introduction of the binomial music-computer in the traditional didactics and the study of these subjects is a tool, a means to achieve a precise goal. These subjects are like a bait to create some interest in those topics young people generally do not like.
Traditional subjects that can have a connection with Musical Technologies are numerous and range over topics such as Physics (acoustics and dynamics), Electronics (analysis of appliances, function of oscillators, filters etc), Geography of the involved world areas, History, and even the study of the specific social and political backgrounds in different musical cultures.

As in the project, there is a phase when the model is being defined (the pathway E-Motion) and an experimental phase (the Pilot Projects).
The E-Motion approach is based on the experimental inclusion of new musical technologies in the ordinary learning program, in synergy and synchrony with school teaching curricula. The objective is to develop and to improve skills in at-risk teens, to raise their interest in subjects they considered boring and complicated and also to motivate them to attend school regularly with a new interest. |
